Renowned Pakistani actress and philanthropist Mahira Khan met King Charles III during the British Asian Trust Annual Dinner held in London, where leading figures from business, philanthropy, arts, and public life gathered to support the Trust’s charitable initiatives across South Asia.
Mahira Khan, who has been associated with the British Asian Trust and its social impact programmes, had the opportunity to interact with the King during the event. Reflecting on the meeting, she said King Charles thanked her for her charitable and advocacy work and showed a keen interest in the initiatives she has supported.
The British Asian Trust was founded in 2007 by King Charles, then Prince of Wales, to tackle poverty and promote sustainable development in South Asia. The organisation works in areas including education, mental health, child protection, livelihoods, and social development.
Trust works across South Asia
The British Asian Trust partners with local organizations in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to deliver development and social welfare programs.
According to information shared by supporters of the royal family, the Trust has positively impacted the lives of approximately 6.6 million disadvantaged people across the four South Asian countries.
The charity continues to focus on reducing poverty, addressing inequality and tackling major social challenges in the region.
Mahira shares special moment with King
One of the most talked-about moments of the evening was King Charles’ interaction with Mahira Khan. Video clips circulating on June 10 showed the 77-year-old monarch speaking with the Pakistani actress and posing for photographs during the reception.
According to Mahira, King Charles personally acknowledged her work with the British Asian Trust.
“King Charles was very charming and spoke with great warmth and interest,” Mahira Khan said. “I was pleasantly surprised that he knew about the work I have done with the British Asian Trust and was aware of the causes I have been supporting.”
She added that the King thanked her for her service and was well-informed about her contributions to the organization.
The annual dinner serves as one of the Trust’s flagship fundraising and networking events, bringing together supporters and partners committed to advancing social change and improving opportunities for vulnerable communities across the region.
Mahira’s elegant look draws attention
For the star-studded event, Mahira Khan chose a traditional gold-toned and mustard-hued ensemble by renowned Pakistani designer Faraz Manan. The outfit featured intricate geometric and beige embroidery, a flowing pleated silhouette and a sheer matching dupatta.
The actress kept her styling understated with soft waves, minimal accessories and light makeup that complemented the traditional attire.
Meanwhile, King Charles looked elegant in a navy-blue three-piece suit as he welcomed guests and supporters.
The Royal Family’s official Instagram account also shared photographs from the event through the British Asian Trust’s official page. The caption stated: “Last night, we rolled out the red carpet for @thebritishasiantrust Annual Dinner and Reception!”
It continued: “We were deeply honoured by the presence and continued support of His Majesty The King, our Royal Founding Patron.”
The post added that supporters gathered to champion the Trust’s transformative work across South Asia and described the evening as a celebration of community, generosity and impact.
