ISLAMABAD (DI NEWS) : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated the Kashmir Chowk Underpass in Islamabad, a major infrastructure project completed in a record time of just 27 days. The project reflects the Prime Minister’s vision of completing development initiatives not over several years but within the shortest possible time to ensure timely relief and convenience for the public.
The route from Dhokri Chowk towards Bhara Kahu and Murree had long been plagued by severe traffic congestion. With the completion of the underpass, millions of commuters will now benefit from smoother and uninterrupted traffic flow, saving valuable time and fuel.
Particular attention has also been paid to environmental protection during the execution of the project. Instead of cutting down existing trees, they were relocated to alternative sites, while 6,000 new plants and trees were planted in the surrounding areas. The project thus offers not only an improved traffic system but also adds a green and aesthetically pleasing space to the city.
Two beautifully designed commemorative monuments have also been constructed near the Kashmir Underpass, reflecting Kashmir’s rich culture, natural beauty and struggle. The monuments feature representations of a local Kashmiri animal, majestic mountains, beautiful lakes and Indian-occupied Kashmir.
These monuments are a beautiful gift to the citizens of Islamabad from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad administration. Under the Prime Minister’s vision and the leadership of Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, such initiatives aim to transform Islamabad into a modern, beautiful and internationally standard city, offering its residents high-quality civic facilities and a better urban environment.
Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi and his team also deserve congratulations for the project’s speedy completion. Through his personal supervision, the project was successfully completed within the record time of 27 days.
The Kashmir Chowk Underpass marks the beginning of a new phase of development in Islamabad. More than 30 development projects are currently underway in the city, while further initiatives are also being launched, including a cricket ground, projects for residents of informal settlements, sector improvements and the Shahdara Dam project to enhance water supply.
This reflects the clear message of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government: public service, accelerated development and the timely completion of every project.
