Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has made his public debut on Instagram, sharing his first post featuring photographs of himself spending time in a library.
The Race actor, using the name Saif Ali Khan Pataudi, posted two pictures from what appeared to be the Pataudi Library. The caption read: “Pataudi Library… Judging books by their cover”.
In the first photograph, Khan can be seen browsing books arranged on shelves. The second shows him reading while seated in a leather-cushioned chair with a footrest.
Following the launch of his public account, Khan appeared to be following only one person: his wife, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan.
His move to the social media platform has drawn attention because the actor has previously spoken about his limited interest in browsing digital platforms.
Saif Ali Khan previously admitted to having a secret account
In an interview with Hindustan Times two years ago, Khan revealed that he already had the Instagram application and used a private account to browse occasionally.
“I do have the Instagram app, and a secret account, too. I browse sometimes, but don’t enjoy it much. And every time I browse it for a little while, I keep promising to delete it and I end up not deleting it,” he told the publication.
At the time, Khan was also asked whether he would ever create a public social media account.
“Never say never. I might join social media. Who knows!” he replied.
His latest move appears to fulfil that possibility, although he has not publicly explained what prompted him to launch the account.
A rare glimpse into the actor’s personal interests
Rather than sharing a promotional announcement or a film-related update, Khan’s first post focused on books and reading.
The library photographs offered a glimpse into a quieter side of the actor, whose career has spanned several decades in Hindi cinema.
Khan has appeared in films including Kal Ho Naa Ho, Race, Omkara and Vikram Vedha. He is married to Kareena Kapoor Khan, and the couple have two sons.
What is Saif Ali Khan working on?
On the professional front, Khan has continued to work in Indian cinema. The supplied report also mentions Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan and co-starring Akshay Kumar.
His Instagram debut could provide fans with a new way to follow his professional projects and occasional personal updates, although it remains to be seen how actively he will use the platform.
