Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva Tahir Andrabi said China’s Global Development Initiative (GDI) has revitalized the global development agenda and strengthened South-South cooperation, with more than 1,800 projects implemented across 120 countries, mobilizing over $23 billion. He described the GDI as complementary to the BRI and an important platform for addressing gaps in achieving the SDGs, while deepening Pakistan-China cooperation under CPEC 2.0. He also highlighted opportunities for developing countries to benefit from emerging technologies such as AI, quantum computing and robotics through the GDI and the newly established World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO).
