Singer Adnan Sami has responded to a joke about him on the latest episode of India’s Got Latent, after comedian Kullu referenced the singer while Ayushmann Khurrana was describing his upcoming film ‘Udta Teer’.
The exchange took place during an episode featuring Ayushmann as a panelist alongside Kullu, comedian Rajat Sood and mentalist Suhani Shah.
What was the joke?
During the episode, host Samay Raina asked Ayushmann about Udta Teer, in which the actor plays a Pakistani spy who enters India and loses his memory after an accident.
Ayushmann explained that his character becomes convinced that he is Indian while retaining a sense of patriotism but forgetting which country he belongs to.
Kullu immediately responded with a reference to Sami, saying, “Woh Adnan Sami hai” (That is Adnan Sami).
The exchange prompted laughter from the panel and subsequently went viral on social media.

Sami later responded to a reel featuring the exchange on Instagram.
Taking the joke in a lighthearted manner, the singer wrote:
“Pehle mujhse ‘rights’ lo aur phir film banao” (Take the rights from me first and then make the film).
His response was shared in the comments section of the India’s Got Latent reel.

Udta Teer stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan and marks the directorial debut of Akash A Kaushik.
The film follows Bilal Ahmad, played by Ayushmann, a Pakistani spy who enters India and loses his memory following an accident, leading him to believe that he is an Indian spy.
Produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Adar Poonawalla, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, the film is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 9.
At the film’s trailer launch, Ayushmann described the role as one of the most difficult characters he has played because he had to maintain a straight face while chaos unfolded around him.
Adnan Sami’s citizenship
Sami was born in Lahore and previously held Pakistani citizenship. He later renounced his Pakistani citizenship and was granted Indian citizenship in 2016.
The singer has continued his career in India and is known for songs including Kabhi To Nazar Milao, Lift Kara De and Bhar Do Jholi Meri.
