ISLAMABAD (DI NEWS) : Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong has reaffirmed China’s commitment to sharing the fruits of Chinese modernization with Pakistan and further strengthening the all weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
Speaking at a reception for overseas Chinese communities celebrating China’s National Day and the Mid Autumn Festival, Ambassador Jiang extended festive greetings to overseas Chinese, employees of Chinese funded enterprises, media representatives and international students in Pakistan, while thanking them for their contributions to China Pakistan friendship.
The Ambassador said that over the past 77 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have achieved a historic transformation from standing up and growing prosperous to growing strong.
He said that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, China has secured a complete victory in the fight against poverty and built a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
“We have continued to write new chapters in the two major miracles of rapid economic development and long term social stability, advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on an irreversible historical course,” Ambassador Jiang said.
Highlighting China’s economic performance, the Ambassador said that 2026 marks a sound start to the 15th Five Year Plan. China’s GDP grew by 4.7 percent year on year in the first half of the year, with an economic increment of 3.6 trillion yuan, hitting a record high for the same period in the past five years.
He said that in August, industrial production continued to accelerate and upgrade. The value added of the equipment manufacturing industry rose by 12.1 percent year on year, while high tech manufacturing increased by 16.7 percent. The output of lithium ion batteries and industrial robots surged by 57.2 percent and 34.6 percent respectively.
Foreign trade also maintained robust growth, he said. In August, China’s total import and export volume of goods increased by 19.8 percent year on year, with exports rising by 18.6 percent and imports by 21.7 percent. From January to August, exports grew by 14.6 percent and imports by 22 percent.
“China has undoubtedly grown into a huge global market offering new opportunities for world development,” he said.
The Ambassador said these figures do not fully represent China’s economic landscape, but demonstrate that the Chinese economy continues to forge ahead with steady progress, quality improvement and structural upgrading.
Despite the adverse impacts of the external environment and domestic supply demand structural imbalances, he said China has full confidence and capability to sustain high quality economic development.
“We will continue to share the fruits of Chinese modernization with the world, deliver greater benefits to Pakistan, our iron clad all weather friend, and work together to build an even closer China Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era,” Ambassador Jiang said.
Referring to the importance of national unity, Ambassador Jiang quoted General Secretary Xi Jinping as saying, “We have made remarkable achievements inscribed in history through the united efforts of people of all ethnic groups, and we will continue to create new glories through solidarity and hard work.”
He noted that the first publicity week for ethnic unity and progress following the implementation of the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress runs from September 21 to 27, with activities being held nationwide focusing on fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation.
The Ambassador said the law, enacted on July 1 this year, is a major initiative to fully implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thinking on ethnic work and the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee.
He said that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, President Xi has engaged extensively with people of all ethnic groups, listened to their aspirations and discussed the development of ethnic regions.
Recalling President Xi’s interactions with different communities, Ambassador Jiang referred to his message that “people of all ethnic groups should cling tightly together like pomegranate seeds,” as well as his observation that “the Chinese nation is one big family with 56 ethnic groups as 56 blooming flowers.”
The Ambassador said that from 2020 to 2025, the combined GDP of China’s five ethnic autonomous regions grew from 6.01 trillion yuan to 8.66 trillion yuan, registering an average annual growth rate of 5.5 percent.
Referring specifically to Xinjiang, Ambassador Jiang said today’s Xinjiang stands as “a vivid epitome of China’s enduring two major miracles.”
He thanked members of the overseas Chinese community for their consistent support and promotion of Xinjiang’s development, saying their efforts had helped make the beauty and prosperity of Xinjiang widely known across Pakistan.
“I hope and believe that you will continue to tell vivid stories about Xinjiang, China’s development and China Pakistan friendship, present a credible, lovable and respectable image of China, and consolidate the social foundation of the iron clad China Pakistan friendship,” he said.
Ambassador Jiang also highlighted the contribution of overseas Chinese to the development of China and Pakistan China relations.
Quoting President Xi, he said, “China’s reform, opening up and development achievements are inseparable from the numerous overseas Chinese who always cherish their motherland and hometown.”
The Ambassador said overseas Chinese compatriots have long served as invaluable people to people envoys for China Pakistan friendship. They have worked diligently in Pakistan, lived in harmony with local communities, devoted themselves to public welfare, supported the development of China and facilitated bilateral economic, trade and cultural exchanges.
He also praised employees of Chinese funded enterprises, describing them as “the backbone of China Pakistan practical cooperation.”
The Ambassador said they have remained committed to front line work far from home, advanced the high quality development of China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects, boosted local economic growth and livelihood improvement, and consolidated the foundation of the all weather friendship between China and Pakistan with tangible outcomes.
Ambassador Jiang also acknowledged the contribution of media professionals, saying they have fulfilled their duties with dedication, undertaken the mission of international communication, told diverse stories of China Pakistan cooperation and effectively enhanced mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
Young overseas students, he added, are successors of bilateral friendship who pursue diligent study, perceive diverse civilizations from a youthful perspective and contribute youthful vitality to exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and Islamic civilizations.
Quoting President Xi Jinping, Ambassador Jiang said, “The united Chinese nation is the shared root of all Chinese people at home and overseas, the profound Chinese culture is our shared soul, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is our shared dream.”
He called upon overseas Chinese to foster profound patriotism, stand with their motherland, safeguard national interests and use their unique position bridging China and Pakistan to further tap the potential for cooperation.
The Ambassador urged them to deliver more win win outcomes benefiting both peoples, uphold safety discipline, exercise rigorous self discipline in words and deeds, maintain the positive image of overseas Chinese nationals and make new contributions to national rejuvenation and development.
He expressed the hope that these efforts would “write a new chapter for deepening all weather China Pakistan strategic cooperation.”
Ambassador Jiang assured the Chinese community that the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan would continue to provide support.
“The Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan will stay true to our original mission, uphold the vision of diplomacy for the people, and provide wholehearted services and support for all compatriots,” he said.
Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Jiang wished enduring prosperity, peace and stability for China and expressed the hope that China Pakistan friendship would continue to withstand the test of time and move steadily forward.
“May China Pakistan friendship stand the test of time and forge ahead steadily!” he said.
