J-Hope appeared visibly emotional after BTS ARMY surprised the group with a sweet fan project.
During the first night of the ARIRANG World Tour at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, August 1, thousands of fans raised pastel-coloured flower banners across the stadium.
BTS leader RM paused to read the message printed on them aloud. The Korean phrase translates to “The moment we waited so long for, our Spring Day!” which is a tribute to the group’s reunion after their military service and years away from a full group world tour.
The touching display appeared to catch the members off guard. As RM finished reading the message, J-Hope smiled warmly before responding, “Soooo sweet!”
Fans also noticed the rapper seemingly wiping away tears with his sleeve, prompting an emotional reaction from the crowd.
For the unversed, the banner project was organised by fan Ashley, known online as @actuallynoh, who led a successful crowdfunding campaign to produce and distribute 41,000 flower-shaped banners in purple, pink, yellow and blue.
Together, they transformed the stadium into a colorful “field of flowers,” symbolising the arrival of a new season for BTS and ARMY after a long wait.
Following the concert, Ashley shared her disbelief on social media, writing, “Never in a million years did I think Namjoon would be reading something that I wrote from my very own heart.”
She also thanked everyone who donated and helped bring the ambitious project to life, adding that she would need “several MANY days” to process the surreal moment.
