US President Donald Trump praised the Pakistan’s leadership and its role in regional diplomacy, saying the country had played an exceptional part in efforts linked to a deal involving Iran.
Speaking in the Oval Office, Trump commended Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, terming the latter as “a great, great general” and noting that the rank of Field Marshal stands above that of a general.
Trump said Pakistan had played an extraordinary role and that the country’s leadership had earned widespread appreciation. He said people across the Middle East were pleased with recent developments and described the atmosphere as highly positive.
Trump said he had spoken to several regional leaders, including those of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait. He added that he also intended to speak with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whom he described as a great leader.
The US president said the development was remarkable and noted a strong sense of enthusiasm among regional leaders.
