Samsung’s next-generation foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, is shaping up to bring notable hardware improvements, including a larger battery and significantly faster charging compared to its predecessor.
According to new leaks, the device will launch alongside another premium variant, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, as Samsung continues expanding its foldable lineup.
Tipster Ice Universe claims the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a 4,800mAh battery, marking an increase of 400mAh over the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 4,400mAh capacity.
Despite reportedly having a more compact footprint, the device is expected to offer improved endurance, addressing one of the key concerns among foldable smartphone users.
This upgrade suggests Samsung is focusing on better power efficiency without compromising design refinement.
Faster charging performance
In addition to the larger battery, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also rumored to support 45W fast wired charging.
If accurate, this would be a major upgrade over the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 25W charging support, nearly doubling charging speed and reducing downtime for users.
The improvement signals Samsung’s continued push to close the gap with competitors in charging performance.
Display and design changes
Reports suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a 5.4-inch cover display paired with a 7.6-inch foldable inner screen.
Both displays are expected to use 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with HDR10+ support, offering smoother visuals and enhanced color accuracy.
The device is also rumored to feature a crease-reduced inner display, continuing Samsung’s long-term efforts to improve foldable screen durability and aesthetics.
Performance and camera setup
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, paired with 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage.
On the camera front, the device may include a dual 50MP rear camera setup, capable of recording 4K video at 60fps and 8K at 30fps.
For selfies, both the cover and inner displays are expected to house 10MP front-facing cameras, offering consistent imaging across modes.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to sit below the higher-end Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, both in pricing and specifications.
While the Ultra model is expected to bring additional premium features, the standard Fold 8 appears to focus on balanced performance, improved battery life, and refined usability.
