Famous singer Sanam Sindhu has accused several people of attacking her and her team during a wedding ceremony in Shikarpur, prompting police to file a report and promise action against those involved.
Sanam Sindhu said she had been invited by Lakh Baradari to perform at a wedding ceremony in Mirani locality, within the limits of New Faujdari police station.
According to the artist, some people at the event were drunk and began misbehaving during the ceremony. She alleged that the host continued immoral acts while intoxicated.
Sindhu claimed that the accused attacked her during the ceremony. She further alleged that her entire team, including her younger brother, was subjected to severe violence.
The singer said the incident caused fear and distress among her team members.
Artist claims she was held hostage
The singer alleged that she and her team were held hostage for several hours. She also claimed that their equipment was snatched.
According to Sanam Sindhu, the agreed rent for the performance was also not paid.
Sanam Sindhu demanded that the provincial culture minister, IG Sindh and other relevant authorities take notice of the incident. She called for action against those responsible and protection for artists performing at public and private events.
Police say action will be taken
SSP Kaleem Malik said a report of the incident has been filed against the persons involved. He added that action will be taken against those named in the complaint.
The case has raised concern over the safety of performers and cultural artists at private functions in Sindh.
