Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for Islamabad after a one-day visit, following an important meeting of the provincial Apex Committee held under his chairmanship.
According to details which surfaced on Tuesday, the meeting carried out a detailed review of the law and order situation in Balochistan. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and senior military officials attended the session.
Participants paid tribute to the sacrifices rendered by the security forces and martyrs in the fight against militancy.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and provincial ministers also attended the meeting, while Inspector General of Police Mohammad Tahir briefed participants on the security situation.
Federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Mohsin Naqvi and Khawaja Asif were also present.
The meeting decided to further intensify operations against elements hostile to peace. Participants in the Apex Committee said those working against peace deserved no concession and added that the sacrifices of martyrs would help establish lasting peace in Balochistan and across the country.
