The Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates has ordered the closure of educational institutions and directed a shift to online classes.
The decision has been taken with the safety of students, teaching staff and administrative personnel in view. In a statement issued on the social media platform X, the ministry announced that from Tuesday, May 5, to Friday, May 8, distance learning will be implemented for nurseries and all public and private schools across the country, covering students, teachers and administrative staff.
The statement said the measure is intended to ensure the protection and welfare of educational institutions. The situation will be reviewed on Friday, May 8 2026, and the period may be extended if required.
