Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 is already drawing attention for what it may not change. Early leaks suggest the company could once again keep charging speeds and battery size largely unchanged.
The development raises questions about how competitive the device will feel in 2026.
A new leak indicates that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will continue to support 25W wired charging, the same speed used since the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
The detail comes from a Korean source via Naver, which claims the specification has now been “confirmed” along with earlier rumours about battery details.
If accurate, this means Samsung is maintaining the same charging performance seen on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 as well.
No major battery upgrade expected
The report also suggests there will be no change in battery capacity, with the Galaxy Z Flip 8 expected to feature a 4,300mAh battery, identical to its predecessor.
While this may disappoint some users, improvements in efficiency could still help deliver better real-world battery performance.
However, on paper, the hardware upgrade appears limited.
Falling behind charging trends
Although 25W charging is still functional, it is increasingly seen as outdated in the 2026 flagship smartphone segment.
Samsung itself has already begun pushing faster charging in other devices. The upcoming Galaxy S26 Plus is expected to support 45W charging, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also tipped for an upgrade.
This makes the Flip series stand out as one of the few remaining lines without faster charging improvements.
Despite the leak, Samsung still has time to adjust final specifications ahead of the expected summer 2026 launch.
The company could still improve the device through software optimisation, camera upgrades, or durability enhancements to make the Flip 8 feel more refined.
However, early signs suggest the core hardware experience may remain largely unchanged.
