US media has claimed that the second round of negotiations between the United States and Iran is set to take place in Islamabad tomorrow.
According to American media reports, US Vice President J.D. Vance is expected to depart for Pakistan today, while the Iranian negotiating delegation is also likely to arrive in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has announced that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will remain in place until an agreement is reached, emphasizing that the United States will not come under pressure and any deal will only be finalized on the best possible terms.
He added that a new agreement with Iran would be better than the one reached during former President Barack Obama’s tenure.
In a social media post, Trump said the deal would be one the world could be proud of and would guarantee global peace, security, and stability. He reiterated that Iran cannot be allowed to possess nuclear weapons and suggested that wise leadership could lead the country toward a prosperous future.
He further claimed that the results in Iran would be remarkable, criticizing previous agreements under Barack Obama and Joe Biden as harmful to US security. Trump warned that without a deal, the chances of war would be inevitable, adding that he would not rush into a bad agreement.
The White House also stated that President Trump would not push the United States into another damaging deal with Iran, maintaining that any agreement under his leadership would ensure peace and security not only for Israel and the Middle East but also for Europe and the US.
However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei expressed reservations, saying that while Pakistan has played a positive role for peace, Iran does not trust the United States. He added that there is currently no intention to participate in the second round of talks and that the Iranian delegation will not travel to Pakistan.
Separately, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which both sides agreed to intensify efforts for peace.
According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Araghchi said that provocative actions and repeated ceasefire violations are major obstacles to the continuation of the diplomatic process.
He also highlighted threats and interference against Iranian commercial vessels, along with contradictory and threatening statements about Iran, as key hurdles in diplomacy.
