The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert predicting rain, thunderstorms, and possible hailstorms across various parts of Pakistan from April 18 to April 23.
According to the advisory, upper and central Punjab are expected to receive rain on April 18 and 19, with hailstorms likely at isolated locations. In southern Punjab, light rain is forecast at a few places during the same period.
Coastal areas, including Gwadar, may experience rainfall on April 19, 20, and 23. In Sindh, cities such as Khairpur, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Umerkot, Mithi, Badin, and Karachi are expected to receive rain on April 19 and 20.
The NDMA also noted that daytime temperatures in several districts of Sindh are likely to remain above normal.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rain is expected in districts including Chitral, Dir, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, and Peshawar. Snowfall is also likely in upper and mountainous regions.
Authorities have warned that strong winds, rain, and hail may damage weak structures, trees, and electricity installations. Slippery roads could disrupt traffic flow.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department had also forecast heavy rainfall between April 16 and 18, with a risk of landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. There is also a possibility of increased water flow in local streams and nullahs.
