In a significant milestone for international cricket cooperation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Italian Cricket Federation (FCRI) have signed a historic memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The agreement comes immediately after Italy’s qualification for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, marking a new chapter in sports diplomacy between the two nations.
The MoU was formally signed by PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmad Syed and FCRI President Maria Lorena Haz Paz.
Joint development of men’s, women’s cricket
The agreement is aimed at supporting the advancement of both men’s and women’s cricket in Italy. With Italy’s recent rise on the international stage, the partnership will help the country build stronger structures to compete globally.
Officials described the arrangement as an important milestone that will enhance technical, structural, and competitive growth in Italian cricket.
Coaching exchanges, training camps, technical collaboration
Under the MoU, both boards will collaborate through:
- Exchange of coaching and technical experts
- Joint development programs, including training camps, workshops and seminars
- Friendly matches and bilateral tournaments at multiple levels
- Support for cricket infrastructure development across Italy
- Assistance in youth programs to grow the sport at grassroots level
These initiatives are expected to accelerate cricket’s expansion in Italy while providing valuable exposure and experience for players and coaches from both countries.
Speaking at the signing, the PCB COO emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to contributing to global cricket development. He said the partnership reflects an important opportunity to deepen sporting and cultural ties between Pakistan and Italy.
The FCRI president welcomed the collaboration and noted that it aligns with Italy’s long-term strategy to elevate cricket standards. She added that the FCRI is also pursuing additional partnerships with other international boards to further boost the sport’s growth.
Strengthening Pakistan–Italy relations
Officials from both boards agreed that the partnership will not only uplift cricket but also strengthen diplomatic and cultural relations between Pakistan and Italy.
“The agreement will further strengthen the relations between Pakistan and Italy,” said Sumair Ahmed Syed.
The PCB expressed optimism about a long-term, productive collaboration that will benefit players, coaches, and fans in both countries.
