The first episode of actress and TV host Ayesha Omar’s reality show Lazawal Ishq has sparked strong reactions online, with some users even demanding a ban.
Responding to the criticism, Ayesha Omar said her mother enjoyed the show, and her approval is what matters most to her.
Sharing her thoughts in an Instagram post, Ayesha Omar revealed that her mother found the first episode “very interesting and different.” She said her mother enjoyed hearing how today’s youth express their feelings, preferences, and opinions in a healthy and balanced way.
“Did my mum like the first episode? Bilkulllll! And her opinion and feedback matter the most to me,” she wrote, adding that it took her mother years to start liking her iconic sitcom Bulbulay.
The actress invited fans to watch the first episode on YouTube and share their feedback. She also spoke warmly about her co-stars, saying she had grown to love the women she worked with during filming.
Despite her excitement, Lazawal Ishq faced backlash even before its launch. When the teaser was released, several users demanded a boycott of the program, calling it controversial.
PEMRA’s clarification on ban demands
Following the criticism, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) clarified that since Lazawal Ishq is being aired only on digital platforms and not on licensed TV channels, it does not fall directly under PEMRA’s jurisdiction.
This clarification came after multiple online calls to block the show, which critics argued should not be allowed to run in Pakistan.
