Pakistan cricket team head coach Mike Hesson has emphasized the importance of starting the upcoming series on a strong note, expressing his commitment to improving the national team’s performance and global rankings through consistent and smart cricket.
Speaking to the media in Lahore on Monday, Hesson outlined his vision for the team, stating, “We will try to start the tour in a good way and improve our ranking by performing well in the series.”
He praised star batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, calling them key players in Pakistan’s white-ball plans. “Babar and Rizwan are excellent players and are part of our white-ball strategy. However, there are a few areas where they need to improve, and we are working on those aspects,” he added.
Hesson, who was recently appointed as head coach, stressed the importance of modern, high-intensity cricket. “Other countries are playing good, aggressive cricket — we aim to match that level. But it’s not just about aggression; we must play smart cricket as well,” he said.
He also expressed optimism about the team’s chances in the upcoming T20 World Cup, saying, “We are trying to prepare well for the T20 World Cup and are very optimistic about performing strongly on the global stage.”
Commenting on the upcoming matches against Bangladesh, Hesson acknowledged the South Asian side’s progress in international cricket. “The Bangladesh team is a great opponent and plays good cricket. We’re not taking them lightly,” he noted.
