Pakistani actress Mahira Khan was reportedly subjected to harassment by unruly attendees during a promotional event for her upcoming film Love Guru at the Indo-Pak Supermarket in Ilford, London.
The event, held to promote the film alongside co-star Humayun Saeed, witnessed chaotic scenes as a large crowd gathered, overwhelming the security arrangements and leading to multiple incidents of inappropriate behavior towards the actress.
According to eyewitnesses, Mahira faced molestation by some youths in the crowd as she attempted to enter the store and later when she made her way to the rooftop terrace, part of the event’s pre-planned activities where she and Humayun were to wave at fans.
Video footage circulating on social media shows Mahira and Humayun waving from the rooftop, while at least three individuals aggressively approached the actress amid visibly inadequate security.
A source revealed to local media that one of the security personnel assigned to the event was allegedly involved in the harassment, intensifying the distressing situation for Mahira. “The moment she entered the store, one of the guards turned on her,” the source added, noting that the actress was visibly shaken and hesitant to continue with the proceedings.
Tensions were further exacerbated by the display of Indian flags at the venue, which reportedly caused discomfort given the ongoing sensitivities between India and Pakistan. Despite these challenges, the promotional event proceeded as scheduled.
Additional reports suggest financial disputes added to the controversy, with insiders stating that Mahira Khan was promised £5,000 for her appearance, but the payment was not honored, prompting the actress to protest against the organizers over both the security lapse and the broken financial commitment.
As of now, Mahira Khan and the event organizers have not issued any official statement addressing the incident. However, the episode has sparked outrage among fans on social media, who have condemned the poor management and called for accountability.
Love Guru, starring Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, is set for release in cinemas on June 6.
