Apple has officially announced that iOS 19 will be introduced at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, starting on June 9.
The keynote event will serve as the global stage for showcasing Apple’s latest software innovations, including a revamped iPhone experience.
The week-long conference, running from June 9 to June 13, will primarily take place online. However, Apple will host a special in-person event for select developers and students at Apple Park, offering exclusive early access to hands-on sessions and previews.
Redesigned UI
Among the most anticipated updates in iOS 19 is a complete visual overhaul. Inspired by the design language of Apple’s Vision Pro, the new user interface is expected to feature floating tab views, cleaner iconography, and a more immersive UX across apps. This change could unify the aesthetic across Apple devices, setting a new design standard.
AI integration and Siri
While a full large language model (LLM) upgrade for Siri might be reserved for iOS 20, users can expect smarter voice assistant features in iOS 19. Apple is also planning to release an AI SDK, enabling developers to integrate AI into third-party apps.
New features may include an AI-powered battery optimization tool, a smarter Health app with a virtual coach, and possible food tracking functionalities.
Camera, Wi-Fi, and Accessibility
The Camera app is reportedly getting a cleaner, more intuitive layout. Another handy feature could allow Apple devices to auto-connect to public Wi-Fi once authenticated on any one of them.
On the accessibility front, Apple has already teased tools like Braille Access improvements and Accessibility Nutrition Labels for apps. In response to EU regulations, Apple may also allow users to set third-party voice assistants like ChatGPT or Gemini as defaults.
Release and device compatibility
The first developer beta will likely drop hours after the June 9 keynote, followed by a public beta in July, and the final release in September 2025, likely alongside the iPhone 17 series.
iOS 19 is expected to support devices from the iPhone 11 to 16 series and SE 2nd Gen, but older models like the iPhone XS, XR, and iPhone 8/X are unlikely to cut.
