Speaking at the Beaconhouse National University’s Center for Policy Research in Lahore, Dr. Naveed Elahi and Amir Rana highlighted terrorism’s evolution, from sectarian violence to globally supported insurgencies like TTP and BLA, fueled by historical conflicts such as the Afghan Jihad and Taliban insurgency. Dr. Elahi noted Pakistan’s inconsistent counter-terrorism efforts, while Amir Rana criticized systemic issues and lack of policy implementation. Both experts stressed adopting modern approaches, including combating disinformation and fostering public trust, to effectively counter terrorism and deepen bilateral mechanisms with China.
