ISLAMABAD (DI NEWS) : In a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Planning, it was revealed that 38 projects worth over $25 billion have been completed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with 23 projects valued at $2.1 billion currently underway. Completed projects include 17 energy initiatives costing $18 billion, infrastructure projects, Gwadar developments, and socio-economic programs. Key ongoing projects include the New Gwadar International Airport and Rashakai Special Economic Zone. Concerns were raised about transparency in Public Works Department (PWD) projects, prompting demands for detailed fund reports. Discussions also highlighted the strategic importance of CPEC’s western route and the need for China to establish export-focused industries in Pakistan to protect local markets. Additionally, members reviewed education and health initiatives, including a new academic block for Emerson College and a cancer treatment project. The meeting saw active participation from committee members and senior officials.
