The Supreme Court of Pakistan has reconstituted the bench set to hear the review petition filed by the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf regarding his right of defense in a defamation case filed by Shahbaz Sharif. A new three-member bench, headed by Justice Hashim Khan Kakak, has been formed to hear the case on March 31. Justice Gul Hasan Aurangzeb and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim will also serve on the bench. Ukraine and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement on defence cooperation that lays the foundation for future contracts, technological cooperation and investments, President ⁠Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Friday. Zelenskiy, who is visiting Saudi Arabia, said the agreement was signed ahead of a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed ⁠bin Salman. “We are ready to share our expertise and systems with Saudi ⁠Arabia and to work together to strengthen the protection ⁠of lives,” Zelenskiy said on the ⁠Telegram app.

The U.N. Security Council will hold closed-door consultations on Friday to discuss strikes on Iran at Moscow’s request, Russian state media reported, as the Middle East war nears its second month. The United Arab Emirates has told the U.S. and other Western allies it would participate in a multinational maritime taskforce to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the Financial Times reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. The UAE is trying to push dozens of countries to create a “Hormuz Security Force” to defend the strait from Iranian attacks and escort shipping, the report added. China launched a new test satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on Friday. A Long March-2C rocket, attached with the Yuanzheng-1S (Expedition-1S) upper stage, blasted off at 12:11 p.m. It has sent the Shiyan-33 satellite into the preset orbit. The satellite will be mainly used for scientific experiments on space environment detection. It marked the 635th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.
