Saudi Arabia’s cabinet on Tuesday called for international cooperation to protect global energy security, trade, supply chains and maritime navigation amid regional tensions.
Chairing the cabinet meeting in Riyadh, King Salman led discussions in which the government condemned Houthi attacks on civilian sites, airports and energy infrastructure in the Kingdom, as well as continued threats to shipping in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The cabinet called for the full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216 and subsequent resolutions. It also urged practical cooperation to prevent the Houthis from obtaining weapons and other support.
The cabinet welcomed the establishment of a Council of Cyber Security Ministers under the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with Riyadh selected to host its secretariat and executive office.
It also praised the recommendations of the Riyadh Economic Forum, while highlighting progress in attracting foreign investment. Foreign direct investment in Saudi Arabia rose by 33.5% in 2025 compared with the previous year, the cabinet said, citing the Kingdom’s economic reforms under its Vision 2030 programme.
