A police station house officer (SHO) and his gunman were martyred when unidentified armed suspects opened fire on police personnel in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police said on Thursday.
According to police, SHO Dawood Khan and his gunman Farhad were killed in the firing in the New Kadapa area of Banda Daud Shah.
Police launch search operation
Following the incident, District Police Officer (DPO) Karak Imran Khan reached the area along with additional personnel.
Police launched a search operation in the surrounding area to trace and arrest those responsible for the attack.
Funeral prayers offered
Funeral prayers for SHO Dawood Khan and gunman Farhad were offered at Police Lines Karak.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat, Commissioner Kohat, DPO Karak and Deputy Commissioner attended the funeral prayers.
Police contingents also paid tribute to the two personnel who were killed in the attack.
