Motorola has unveiled the Signature 27, one of the first smartphones to feature Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor.
The company revealed the device during the opening keynote of Snapdragon Summit 2026, positioning it as a return to the ultra-premium traditional smartphone segment after focusing heavily on foldable devices in recent years.
Motorola has confirmed that the Signature 27 will launch in the US before the end of the year, although it has not announced an exact release date.
Distinctive design
The Signature 27 features a thin aluminium body and a design that sets it apart from conventional flagship smartphones.
Motorola describes the raised section housing the rear cameras as a “camera plane”, while four lenses are arranged in an arch-like configuration.
The phone will be offered in Pantone Coal Smoke, a black finish, and Pantone Capulet Olive, a green shade.
Motorola has also used different textures across the two variants, including a woven finish on one model.
The unconventional design has already generated mixed reactions, with the camera arrangement and textures making the device visually distinctive.
200MP periscope camera
Motorola has not yet disclosed the complete specifications of the Signature 27, but several key features have been confirmed.
The smartphone will include a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel main camera built around Sony’s Lytia 910 sensor.
The Lytia 910 features Sony’s LOFIC technology and is rated for up to 17 stops of dynamic range, potentially improving the phone’s ability to capture details across bright and dark areas of an image.
The device will also feature Bang & Olufsen audio technology, adding to its premium positioning.
Seven years of Android updates
Motorola has confirmed that the Signature 27 will receive seven years of Android updates, extending the software support period typically offered on many smartphones.
The company has yet to reveal other major specifications, including the display, battery capacity, charging speeds, RAM and storage configurations.
More details are expected ahead of the phone’s launch later this year.
Unlike Motorola’s previous Signature model, the Signature 27 has been confirmed for the US market, marking the company’s return to the premium traditional smartphone segment in the region.
