Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called for renewed and coordinated diplomatic action by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in support of the Palestinian people, warning of the continuing situation in Gaza and the West Bank.
Dar made the remarks while addressing the OIC Committee of Six on Palestine on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, according to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian cause and expressed concern over developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Dar calls for stronger diplomatic action
Dar said the Palestine issue remained central to the collective concerns of the OIC and the Muslim world, while stressing the responsibility of the six-member committee to mobilise political and diplomatic support for Palestinians.
He welcomed mediation efforts by the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye aimed at advancing implementation of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict.
The plan was endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, adopted in November 2025. The resolution called for implementation of the plan and established a framework involving transitional governance, reconstruction and an international stabilisation force.
Dar called for the full and faithful implementation of the Gaza peace plan and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Pakistan condemns Israeli actions at Al-Aqsa
Dar also condemned what Pakistan described as continued Israeli violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Haram Al-Sharif.
He raised concerns over settlement activity, settler violence, annexation-related measures and forced evictions in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
Dar said the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and other Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem should be preserved.
The UN has also reported continuing tensions in the occupied Palestinian territory, including settlement expansion and settler-related violence in the West Bank, while describing the Gaza ceasefire as fragile.
Dar backs Palestinian-led governance in Gaza
The deputy prime minister said arrangements for Gaza’s reconstruction and governance should remain Palestinian-led, with a central role for the Palestinian Authority.
He also called for accountability for violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
Pakistan’s stated position is that Gaza’s future should remain linked to a broader political settlement and the establishment of an independent, sovereign and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Dar meets Palestinian envoy Riyad Mansour
Separately, Dar met Palestinian Permanent Observer to the United Nations Ambassador Riyad Mansour at UN Headquarters in New York.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and an independent, sovereign and contiguous Palestinian state.
He said Pakistan would continue raising the issue at the UN General Assembly and other relevant forums, including during bilateral engagements on the sidelines of the session.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry had earlier said Dar’s UNGA programme would include several high-level meetings on Palestine as part of Islamabad’s diplomatic engagement during the UN General Assembly’s high-level week.
