Six suspected terrorists were killed and five others arrested during a joint operation by police, the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF) and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Qilla Abdullah and adjoining areas of Balochistan.
The operation was launched following intelligence reports about the presence of suspected militants linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF).
According to police, the operation was carried out in Qilla Abdullah and surrounding areas, including Saranan, Killi Ajram, Killi Sultan and Killi Musafir.
The security personnel exchanged fire with the suspected terrorists during the operation, resulting in the deaths of six suspects, police said. Five other suspects were taken into custody during the action.
ATF official injured in exchange of fire
Police said one ATF official was injured during the operation.
The authorities stated that the suspects who were killed or arrested were allegedly involved in attacks targeting police stations and security checkposts.
The operation was conducted on the basis of intelligence regarding the presence of militants associated with the banned BLA and BLF.
Naqvi praises CTD Balochistan
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended CTD Balochistan for what he described as a successful operation against terrorist elements.
Naqvi praised the CTD personnel for eliminating six suspected terrorists and said the timely action had thwarted the militants’ “nefarious designs”. He said all state institutions remained committed to establishing peace in Balochistan.
The interior minister also expressed pride in the brave personnel of CTD Balochistan, adding that enemies of peace were being eliminated with the support of the nation.
