Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq have been declared ineligible to play domestic cricket after failing to undergo mandatory fitness tests, according to sources.
The two players will therefore be unable to participate in the President’s Trophy Grade-I.
According to sources, Rizwan and Imam failed to complete the required fitness tests conducted by their respective departmental teams.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) requires teams to conduct fitness tests and submit reports for players participating in first-class cricket. However, neither player has a fitness report on record with his department.
As a result, the two cricketers have been deemed ineligible for domestic cricket.
Rizwan was set to lead Sui Northern Gas
Rizwan serves as vice-captain of the Sui Northern Gas team and was expected to lead the side in its opening-round match because regular captain Shan Masood is unavailable.
Sui Northern Gas are scheduled to face State Bank in their opening match from Saturday.
Rizwan’s absence will leave the departmental side without one of its senior Pakistan internationals at the start of the tournament.
Imam-ul-Haq set to miss OGDC match
Imam-ul-Haq, meanwhile, captains the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) team.
OGDC are scheduled to play their opening match against Pakistan Television (PTV), also beginning Saturday.
The absence of Imam means OGDC will also have to enter the opening round without their regular captain.
