The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to question players and members of the selection committee as part of an accountability process following Pakistan’s poor performance against England, sources said.
The development comes amid questions over former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq’s resignation, with sources saying the PCB had issued him a notice over selection decisions.
According to sources, the PCB issued a notice to Misbah-ul-Haq after what was described as a poor selection process surrounding the team’s performance against England.
Sources said Misbah had remained adamant about selecting certain players, but those players failed to deliver as expected. The PCB subsequently sought an explanation from him through the notice.
Misbah resigned after receiving PCB notice
Sources said Misbah-ul-Haq decided to resign soon after receiving the PCB’s notice regarding the selection decisions. The former captain did not respond to the notice and instead decided to step down from his position, sources added.
The development has raised further questions about accountability within Pakistan cricket, particularly over selection decisions and player performances.
Sources said Misbah-ul-Haq is currently serving his notice period. He will leave his position once the notice period ends, according to the sources.

The PCB has also issued a notice to the National Selection Committee, seeking an explanation for the inclusion of Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan in the squad. The notice, issued by PCB CEO Sumair Ahmed Syed, asked the selectors to explain the reasons behind selecting both cricketers.
According to the notice, Imam and Rizwan were included in the squad based on the recommendations of the National Selection Committee. The selectors have been asked to provide clear reasons and justification for their inclusion.
The selection committee has been directed to submit its response within 24 hours of receiving the notice.
PCB begins accountability process
The PCB has also decided to question players and the selection committee as it seeks answers over the team’s recent performance and selection decisions.
The move signals that accountability will extend beyond one individual, with players and selectors also expected to face questions over their respective roles.
The board’s decision follows Pakistan’s disappointing performance against England and the subsequent controversy surrounding team selection.
