A rescue operation on Spantak has made significant progress with local climbers recovering the body of female climber Dr Asma Mushtaq, who died while attempting the 7,027-metre peak.
The successful operation was carried out under difficult conditions by a team of local climbers from Arand.

The recovery was particularly challenging because of the difficult terrain and conditions surrounding the 7,027-metre-high peak in Shigar.
Local climbers lead difficult rescue mission
The rescue team included Mehboob, Abidin Numberdar, Mazahir Hussain, Hussain Baig and Abbas Ali. The local climbers from Arand successfully completed the search operation despite the challenging conditions on Spantak.
The operation has also marked significant progress in efforts to locate the bodies of five climbers from Arand who died on the mountain.
The recovery operation highlights the efforts of local climbers who undertook the difficult search mission on one of the region’s high-altitude peaks.
