The 2nd Silk Way Star International Music Competition was officially launched at the 5th Global Media Innovation Forum on June 10, 2026, in Chongqing, southwest China.
The competition is jointly organized by China Media Group (CMG) and the Presidential Television and Radio Complex of Kazakhstan.
At the forum, Chinese singer Zhang Hexuan and Kazakh singer Lucia took the stage together, performing the competition’s theme song, “Silk Way Star,” in three languages: Chinese, English and Kazakh.
The launch announcement has already received widespread coverage and enthusiastic discussion across major media outlets in Kazakhstan, highlighting the growing cultural connection between China and Central Asia.
