US President Donald Trump has said that an agreement between the United States and Iran could be signed within the next few days, possibly by the end of this week, at a venue in Europe.
Speaking at the White House, President Trump said preparations for the agreement documents had entered their final stages and that the deal should be completed very soon. He added that Iran was as keen on the agreement as the other parties involved.
Trump said he believed Iran’s Supreme Leader had approved the agreement and that all relevant parties were working to ensure the process reached a successful conclusion.
The US president said he would not be able to attend the signing ceremony himself. However, Vice President JD Vance would represent the United States at the event.
Trump said that once the agreement was finalised, the United States would immediately lift sanctions imposed on Iranian ports. He added that the move would lead to a significant decline in global oil prices.
