US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said ‘Project Freedom’ was halted at Pakistan’s request.
According to details, news agencies reported that Rubio said Pakistan had conveyed that suspending ‘Project Freedom’ in the Strait of Hormuz could make an agreement with Iran possible.
The US secretary of state has said that the project was stopped to give diplomacy a chance. He added that President Donald Trump preferred diplomacy.
PM says Pakistan recognised globally as trusted mediator
Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan was being recognised across the world as an honest mediator and a trusted country, terming it as a bright moment in the nation’s history.
According to details, in an interview with The Sunday Times, the prime minister has said that Iran, the United States and Gulf states placed trust in Pakistan, which was increasingly being regarded as a credible facilitator for peace talks.
He said cooperation between the political and military leadership had helped project Pakistan’s positive image at the international level.
The prime minister said Pakistan continued sustained diplomatic efforts for peace in the region and across the wider world.
He maintained that despite difficult circumstances, Pakistan had continued to play a responsible and effective diplomatic role, while the economy had been stabilised and inflation reduced to single digits over the past two years.
