Pakistan on Monday condemned the drone strike near the Barakah nuclear power plant in Abu Dhabi, terming it as a grave violation of international law.
According to details, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) spokesperson has said that Pakistan strongly condemned the drone attack near the Barakah nuclear facility in the United Arab Emirates and stood in solidarity with the government and people of the brotherly country.
The FO spokesperson has said that the deliberate targeting of nuclear installations constituted a serious breach of international law and such facilities must never be targeted under any circumstances.
Moreover, the spokesperson warned that such irresponsible actions could prove disastrous for global peace and the environment.
The FO spokesperson has said that the sanctity of civilian nuclear infrastructure was a recognised international principle and called upon all parties to exercise maximum restraint and reduce tensions.
“Dialogue and diplomacy remained the only path towards lasting peace and stability in the region,” said the FO spokesperson.
Abu Dhabi authorities have said that a fire broke out in an electric generator outside the inner security perimeter of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the Al Dhafra region following a drone strike on Sunday.
Officials have said that no casualties were reported and radiation safety standards remained unaffected. They added that the fire did not compromise the safety of the plant or the functioning of its critical systems, while all units continued to operate normally.
