Pakistan has strongly condemned the missile and drone attacks on civilian infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates overnight. Full solidarity has been expressed with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.
It has been stated that Pakistan stands firmly with the people and government of the United Arab Emirates at this difficult time, and that a ceasefire must be upheld to allow space for diplomatic engagement leading to lasting peace and stability in the region.
The United Arab Emirates has claimed that, following the reported attacks, air defence systems were activated in several areas.
According to details released by the UAE defence authorities, the country was targeted with 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and four drones, with three people reported to have suffered minor injuries.
Reports have indicated that a petroleum industrial site in Fujairah caught fire after a drone incident, while flight operations at Dubai and Sharjah airports were temporarily suspended.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesperson has said that there was no pre-planned operation targeting oil installations in Fujairah, adding that events at the port were linked to what it described as US military activity in the region.
Moreover, the IRGC spokesperson has said that the United States sought to create routes for illegal maritime movement through the Strait of Hormuz, and warned that further action could lead to Iranian strikes on key installations. It was also alleged that the United Arab Emirates had been involved in recent actions against Iran.
