The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps spokesperson has said that there had been no prior plan to attack oil installations in Fujairah, adding that the incident at the port was the result of American military adventurism.
He said the United States sought to create a passage through the Strait of Hormuz for the movement of unlawful vessels, warning that any further attacks would prompt Iran to target key installations.
The statement added that the United Arab Emirates had been involved in recent attacks against Iran, terming action against the UAE as a retaliatory response, and repeated that further strikes would lead to Iranian action against significant sites.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates released details of missile and drone strikes. A spokesman for the Emirati Ministry of Defence said the country had been targeted with 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and four drones, adding that three people sustained minor injuries in the Iranian attacks.
Separately, Reuters reported that a petroleum industrial site in Fujairah caught fire following an Iranian drone strike. Arab media said flight operations at Dubai and Sharjah airports were temporarily suspended.
