The Pakistan Super League awards ceremony celebrated standout performances from Peshawar Zalmi stars, with Babar Azam and Sufyan Muqeem among the biggest winners of the tournament.
Peshawar Zalmi’s Aaron Hardie was named Player of the Match for his impressive performance. Michael Bracewell received the PSL Moment of the Match award.
Speaking after receiving his award, Aaron Hardie described the occasion as a special one, saying the moment was “very wonderful.”
Sufyan was named Player of the Tournament after a brilliant campaign with the ball. The Peshawar Zalmi bowler took 22 wickets during the tournament and played a key role in his side’s successful run.
Muqeem also won the Strongest Bowler of the Tournament award.
Babar Azam bags Batsman of the Tournament
Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam was named Batsman of the Tournament after finishing as the highest run-scorer of PSL. Babar scored 588 runs in the tournament and also received the Haneef Muhammad Cap for his outstanding batting performance.
“For me, it is a great success for Peshawar Zalmi and all the fans,” Babar Azam said.
He added that the team performed well throughout the tournament and followed a match-by-match approach.
“Our plan is that we will play match to match,” Babar said, adding that even during back-to-back matches, the focus remained on giving their best.
“I tried to give my best performance in this PSL,” he said.
Sufyan receives Fazal Mahmood Cap
Sufyan Muqeem was also awarded the Fazal Mahmood Cap as Peshawar Zalmi’s leading bowler. The spinner said his only focus whenever he came on to bowl was to take wickets.
“Whenever I used to come to bowl, all I had in mind was to get out,” Sufyan Muqeem said. He added that consistent hard work helped him achieve success.
“I kept working hard. It was written in my destiny that I would become the best bowler,” he said.
Muqeem also said the award was given in the name of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.
Other PSL award winners
Hunain Shah won the Emerging Player of the Tournament award. Asif Yaqoob was named Umpire of the Tournament. Shadab Khan received the All-Rounder of the Tournament award.
Farhan Yousuf was named Fielder of the Tournament.
