ISLAMABAD (DI NEWS) : The World Journalists Conference (WJC) 2026 officially opened this morning at the Korea Press Center in Seoul, serving as a global platform for media professionals to share their diverse experiences. This year’s conference features participants from 48 countries, including a delegation from Sri Lanka.
The event, which runs from March 29th to April 3rd, commenced with a welcome address by Park Joung-hyun, President of the Journalists Association of Korea. A Senior Advisor from the Office of the President of the Republic of Korea also addressed the gathering. Additionally, Woo Won-shik, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, delivered a virtual congratulatory speech to the international delegates.
The sessions on the first day focused on the role of journalism in strengthening democracy during times of crisis, while also addressing the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the future of the newsroom.
The conference provides a unique opportunity for journalists to exchange professional insights and discuss the challenges facing the industry today.
Beyond the formal sessions, the program includes extensive field coverage and cultural visits.The participants are scheduled to visit the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), including the Odusan Unification Observatory and Camp Greaves. The itinerary also features coverage at the National Museum of World Writing Systems in Incheon, the cinematic Daejanggeum Park, and the Samsung Innovation Museum in Suwon, allowing the 48-nation media cohort to document Korea’s rich heritage and technological progress
