Pakistan has successfully launched its second indigenous Earth Observation satellite, EO-2, from China’s Yangjiang Seashore Launch Center, marking a major step in strengthening the country’s domestic space and remote sensing capabilities. According to SUPARCO, EO-2 will enhance imaging continuity and provide critical data for disaster management, agricultural planning, urban development, environmental monitoring and resource management. The launch reflects Pakistan’s growing indigenous capacity in satellite development and its broader efforts, including cooperation with China, to expand its national space program and reduce reliance on external data sources.
