ISLAMABAD : Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the new state-of-the-art monitoring system, Secure Hybrid Intelligence for Knowledge Band Response Analytics (SHIKRA), at the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports. The system modernises passport application processing, printing, and overall operational monitoring.
During the visit, the minister was briefed on SHKRA, which includes a 24/7 monitoring room and call center. Under his directives, the Emergency Travel Document system has been fully digitized, enabling real-time tracking of passport applications from submission to delivery, both nationally and internationally.
Minister Naqvi praised the DG of Immigration & Passports and his team for implementing advanced technology, saying the system aligns Pakistan’s passport services with global standards.
He emphasized that the new system will enhance service speed, security, and efficiency, with passport security features meeting ICAO standards. Automated German machines have eliminated human interference in printing, increasing productivity.
The minister also toured the e-monitoring room, call center, forensic lab, and modern production unit.
The system’s digital integrated dashboard allows real-time evaluation of staff performance, monitors office crowds, machinery status, and backlogs, ensuring efficiency and transparency in passport operations.
Senior officials, including DG FIA, DG Immigration & Passports, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and IG Islamabad Police, attended the inauguration.
