Twelve ministers of the Gilgit-Baltistan caretaker government were sworn in on Tuesday at an oath-taking ceremony held at the Governor House in Gilgit, marking the beginning of the interim administration ahead of assembly elections.
Due to the absence of the governor, the oath of office was administered by Nazir Ahmed, the speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. He administered the oath to all twelve caretaker ministers during the ceremony.
The caretaker cabinet had been formally approved four days ago by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The approval paved the way for the interim government to assume responsibility until the completion of the electoral process.
Function until elections
Officials said the caretaker cabinet, working alongside the caretaker chief minister, will oversee all administrative and governance matters. The interim government will remain in place until the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections are held.

In addition to the 12 ministers who took oath, the caretaker cabinet also includes two advisors. The expanded interim team is expected to ensure continuity of governance during the pre-election period.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Gilgit Governor House and was attended by a large number of guests. Among those present were caretaker Chief Minister Yar Muhammad, former chief minister Gulbar Khan, and other notable figures.
Transition completed
With the swearing-in completed, the caretaker government has formally taken charge in Gilgit-Baltistan. Authorities say the interim administration will focus on maintaining stability and neutrality as the region moves toward elections.
