Islamabad United announced that the franchise would continue its journey in the Pakistan Super League, stating pride in its ten years of success and progress in the tournament.
The franchise began its journey in 2015 with a mission to improve the standard of cricket in Pakistan. It identified four pillars as its foundation: top performance, opportunities for youth, promotion of education and care for the environment.
Islamabad United were the first PSL team to adopt data-driven cricket. Through the ‘United We Tech’ campaign, the franchise offered start-ups an opportunity to present ideas. It also became the first PSL side to launch a stadium in the metaverse through the U-Meta Stadium initiative.
The franchise highlighted its cricket and art collaboration, which brought sport and culture together. Under its empowerment policy, young players such as Rumman Raees and Shadab Khan received the captaincy. Through its women’s empowerment drive, national women players received training and ambassador roles.
A partnership with a local foundation marked a major step toward the promotion of education. Through the ‘One Run One Tree’ campaign, the franchise turned cricket into an environment-friendly effort. Collaboration with WWF-Pakistan also allowed Islamabad United to support wildlife protection campaigns, including efforts for the snow leopard.
‘Islamabad United will continue its mission with the same passion and honesty,’ franchise owner Ali Naqvi said. He added that all PSL fans held the place of ‘heart and soul’ for the team.
Islamabad United also expressed happiness over the inclusion of two new teams in the PSL in the future.
Separately, Karachi Kings renewed their Pakistan Super League franchise agreement for ten years, in a move that the league’s leadership termed as a sign of continued stability.
Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the team played a vital role in the league’s reputation and added that Karachi Kings’ decision to renew the agreement stood as clear evidence of the league’s strength.
He stated that Karachi Kings’ contribution raised the league’s stature and confirmed confidence in its future.
The PSL format will expand to eight teams from Season 11.
