China and Kazakhstan vowed to deepen strategic cooperation as senior officials from both sides met in Beijing on Thursday.
Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, held talks with Murat Nurtleu, assistant to the president of Kazakhstan for international investment and trade cooperation.
Wang said China and Kazakhstan enjoy solid mutual trust, and their relationship has withstood various tests. He noted that bilateral ties continue to show broad development prospects and significant cooperation potential. China, he added, stands ready to work with Kazakhstan to deepen traditional friendship, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and strengthen collaboration in key areas including energy, green minerals and connectivity.
The Chinese foreign minister also highlighted emerging fields such as nuclear energy and artificial intelligence as new drivers of cooperation, saying both sides should continue elevating their permanent comprehensive strategic partnership.
He expressed appreciation for Kazakhstan’s support of China-proposed global initiatives and reaffirmed China’s backing for Kazakhstan to play a greater role in international and regional affairs.
China is willing to enhance coordination within multilateral platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and China–Central Asia mechanisms, Wang added. He also expressed hope that Kazakhstan will join the International Mediation Court at an early date.
For his part, Nurtleu said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, bilateral ties have entered a new stage and cooperation is accelerating.
He noted that Kazakhstan is ready to work with China to implement the leaders’ consensus, deepen practical cooperation, promote high-quality Belt and Road development, enhance people-to-people exchanges, and further strengthen the permanent comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
