Renowned filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has opened up about facing sexual harassment early in her film career.
During a candid conversation on Twinkle Khanna and Kajol’s program, she shared that a director once entered her room at night under the pretext of discussing a song — an encounter that she immediately resisted.
According to NDTV, Farah revealed that the incident occurred many years ago, when she was still struggling to establish herself in the film industry.
“He came and sat on my bed” — Farah recounts moment
Recalling the incident, Farah Khan said she was lying on her hotel bed during a film shoot when the director came into her room, pretending to talk about the song they were working on. “He sat on the bed next to me,” she said, describing the situation as extremely uncomfortable.
Reacting instinctively, Farah said she kicked the director out of the room, refusing to tolerate such behavior.
Twinkle Khanna confirms incident
During the discussion, Twinkle Khanna confirmed that she had witnessed the event, saying she followed the director to Farah’s room and saw what had happened firsthand.
Both Farah and Twinkle described the episode as one of many harsh realities women in the industry faced during that era.
Farah Khan reflected that the experience taught her a lasting lesson about self-respect and personal boundaries. Despite her success today, she said she never forgot that day, as it shaped her understanding of standing up for herself.
“Work is not just about acting or directing,” she emphasized, “but also about your voice and self-confidence.”
While she courageously recounted the event, Farah refrained from naming the director involved. Twinkle Khanna also chose not to identify him.
