Indian singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has finally addressed the backlash he faced after touching Amitabh Bachchan’s feet on Kaun Banega Crorepati 17.
The Jatt & Juliet 3 star responded gracefully, saying he harbors no complaints or resentment toward anyone.
Diljit Responds to online criticism
The controversy began shortly after Diljit appeared on the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati 17. Some people criticized his appearance on the show, while others objected to his gesture of touching the veteran actor’s feet as a sign of respect.
Amid the backlash, one social media user posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“Sad to see Diljit getting criticised from all sides — right/left wingers who hate Sikhs, and Khalistan supporters who hate him for KBC. It just shows how sick our society has become — hate everywhere, no matter the religion.”
In response, Diljit wrote in Punjabi:
“Nahi Nahi. Eh Oh Aap Hee Aa. Just Bande Nu Check Karda Ke Banda Kithey Ku Khadha Aapni Journey Ch. Manu Kisey Naal Shikayat Ni. SAB GOBIND HAI. ONE LOVE.”
The message, loosely translated, reflects his calm and positive attitude, suggesting he sees such moments as part of his journey and holds no complaints against anyone.
Threats from Sikh group over his gesture
A few days prior, the Crew actor reportedly received a threat from Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a group led by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. The organization accused Diljit of “insulting” the victims of the 1984 Sikh riots by touching Amitabh Bachchan’s feet — alleging that the veteran actor had incited violence during that period.
The SFJ even called for a shutdown of Diljit’s concert in Australia in protest.
Despite the criticism, Diljit won hearts during the same KBC episode by donating his prize money of ₹50 lakh to flood relief efforts in Punjab. The Amar Singh Chamkila actor’s gesture was widely appreciated by fans, who praised his humility and compassion.
