The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has secured the necessary numbers to form a government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) without the support of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
According to details surfaced on Sunday that Ministers Faheem Akhtar Rabbani, Muhammad Asim Sharif, Chaudhry Mohammad Akbar and Abdul Majid Khan joined the PPP following a meeting with Faryal Talpur.
Other senior ministers, including AJK Education Minister Zafar Iqbal Malik, Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, Sardar Muhammad Hussain, Chaudhry Muhammad Ikhlaq, Chaudhry Arshad Hussain and Chaudhry Rashid, also became members of the PPP.
The PPP requires the backing of 27 members to form a government in the AJK. Currently, the party has 17 members in the Legislative Assembly. The PML-N holds nine seats, while the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has four. The Muslim Conference and the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Party each have one member. A forward block of 20 assembly members is also present in the house.
