Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has visited Egypt, holds talks on mutual interests and defence cooperation
During his official visit to Egypt, the Field Marshal held meetings with Egypt’s Minister of Defence and Military Production General Abdel Majeed Saqr, and Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fathi.
The visit aimed to strengthen military cooperation and defence partnership between Pakistan and Egypt.
Discussions focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security, and defence collaboration. The COAS emphasised that Egypt is a brotherly Islamic country and that cooperation between the two nations serves the public interest. He added that such bilateral ties would contribute to peace and stability in the region.
The Field Marshal received a warm welcome at the Egyptian Ministry of Defence and was accorded a guard of honour. He also laid flowers at the tomb of the late Egyptian President Anwar Sadat.
In addition, the COAS met with Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University. The meeting covered challenges facing the Muslim world. The Field Marshal stressed the need to end extremism and false interpretations of Islam.
