The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan – sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan – for the second time due to her continuous absence from court proceedings in the November 26 protest case.
The hearing, conducted by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, also saw the court issue a non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan’s guarantor, Umar Sharif. The judge directed the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi to verify Sharif’s property documents submitted as part of the bail guarantee.
The court further instructed the Rawalpindi police to arrest Aleema Khan and produce her before the court on October 22.
11 accused and 5 witnesses present
The case involves 11 accused, including Aleema Khan, who are being tried in connection with the November 26 protest. While the other ten accused appeared before the court, Aleema Khan remained absent.
Five prosecution witnesses also attended the hearing and presented their testimonies, along with the case record.
The case stems from the November 26 protest, for which several PTI leaders and supporters were charged under anti-terrorism provisions. Aleema Khan has repeatedly failed to appear despite previous court orders and non-bailable warrants.
