US President Donald Trump on Monday called the signing of the Gaza Peace Agreement a “great honour” and a “historic achievement” that will usher in lasting peace across the Middle East.
Speaking to the media after the signing ceremony, Trump said, “It is a great honour for me to have a Gaza peace agreement. The bloodshed in Gaza has stopped because of this accord. The time has come to rebuild Gaza, and we will all rebuild it together.”
He emphasized that the peace deal will bring long-term stability to the region, thanking all countries that contributed to its success. “I am grateful to all the nations that made this agreement possible. This is a historic day for the entire world,” he added.
Trump praises Field Marshal Asim Munir, PM Shehbaz Sharif
During his remarks, President Trump made special mention of Pakistan, referring to Field Marshal Asim Munir as his “favourite”, while acknowledging the participation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the summit.
“My favourite Field Marshal from Pakistan is not here today, but the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, is with us. Come and express your thoughts,” Trump said, inviting the Pakistani leader to address the gathering.
Trump’s acknowledgment underscored Pakistan’s visible diplomatic role in the regional peace process and its continued support for stability in Gaza.
US president appreciates Qatar, Egypt’s mediation efforts
Trump lauded Qatar and Egypt for their significant roles in mediating the ceasefire and facilitating negotiations leading up to the agreement. “I appreciate the services of the Emir of Qatar. Egypt’s role in achieving this peace has been truly commendable,” he said.
He also reaffirmed US support for Gaza’s reconstruction, emphasizing the shared global responsibility in rebuilding the war-torn enclave. “Gaza presents everyone with pride on this peace agreement,” Trump noted.
Egyptian president: ‘Gaza Peace Agreement historic document’
At the news conference of Gaza Peace Summit participants, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi praised President Trump’s leadership in securing the Gaza ceasefire. “The US president played an important role in achieving this truce,” Al-Sisi said.
He also acknowledged the constructive roles of Qatar and Turkiye, calling their mediation “exemplary.” Al-Sisi described the Gaza accord as a “historic document” that will restore peace and stability to the region.
“The Gaza peace agreement is a great success and an essential step toward a lasting settlement,” the Egyptian leader said. He reiterated that a two-state solution remains the only path to resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, adding, “The Palestinians have the right to live in an independent state.”
Trump: ‘US military is strongest in the world’
In his address, Trump also reflected on American strength and its role in maintaining global peace. “The US military is the strongest army in the world,” he declared, linking American leadership to the success of the Gaza agreement.
He described the peace accord as a joint effort of global leaders, marking “a proud day for all nations who value peace over conflict.”
